Career Highlights

Dr. Kwan held faculty positions at Heidelberg University, Georgia Southern University, and University of Rhode Island. Dr. Kwan taught general music and choirs at elementary and middle school levels in Hong Kong before she came to the US. She also taught general music and choirs in New Jersey after completing her master degree at Westminster Choir College. Dr. Kwan conducted and performed with choral ensembles in Hong Kong, Vienna, and the United States. At Taylor University, Dr. Kwan serves as the director of music education. Dr. Kwan’s research interest focuses on students’ motivation and participation in vocal/choral music; music teacher preparation, and multicultural music in the music curriculum. Her research has been presented at national and state conferences and published in national music education journals.

  • Make friends with your fellow classmates and others in your residence hall
  • Don’t hesitate to ask questions in and outside class time and go your professors’ office hours
  • Attend chapels and other activities

Why I Enjoy Teaching at Taylor

Taylor University is a great place to be. I am so thankful for this opportunity to be a faculty member here. Let me share with you a few reasons that I love teaching here at Taylor. The up-to-date and awesome facilities/resources at Taylor enhance teaching and learning. Taylor students are very motivated and hardworking. My colleagues are wonderful and caring. Chapels and other activities in this Christ centered institution help me grow closer to God. This is the best place to be!

Hobbies

Spending time with friends and families, trying new recipes with friends for fun, getting a lot of ideas from Pinterest, and watching movies
