Career Accomplishments

Dr. Seeman’s own areas of research include metaethical questions about the ways in which God grounds moral obligations, difficulties facing Materialists who seek to ground objective moral obligations in a world without God, and how Christians can respond to the tough questions people ask Christians about their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Seeman also has a lively interest in contemporary continental philosophy and the ways in which architectural theory and philosophy interact. Additionally, he is currently revisiting his earlier work in Church History for an essay to be published in a book Dr. D.A. Carson is editing for Eerdmans Press.

T. B. Madsen Award for an outstanding thesis: “The Development of a Common Sense Realism Historiography in American Church History, from 1955 to 1994.”

About

I joined the Taylor community in 2006, after teaching at Judson University for a number of years, and have found an intellectual and spiritual home among colleagues who are also passionate about exploring issues at the intersection of philosophy and theology.

Perhaps my favorite activity is taking walks on country roads with Kiersten and the family dog, Nestle. I also enjoy doing nearly anything outside with the kids, cycling, volleyball, singing, playing guitar, reading Scripture on the front deck, having friends over, and pizza/movie nights with Kiersten and the kids. Indeed, having been born and raised in the Chicago area, I consider myself something of a deep dish pizza connoisseur, and in my considered judgment, Kiersten makes the best pizza in Grant County, Indiana.

I love walking, canoeing, biking, skiing, and visiting state parks. I also enjoy coaching soccer, though that stage of my life is done...at least until grandkids come along! I have become pretty good with the grill, so I enjoy that a lot as well.

My wife, Kiersten, and I have five children. They're all either Taylor graduates or are currently attending Taylor. One of my biggest joys in life is continuing to stay connected with them as they're launching into careers and marriage.
