Three Taylor University students were winners at the 2014 Great Lake Region National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Student Adjudications, held at Ball State University.

The students, Courtney Jameson, Hyung Jin Park, and Meghan Gamble, emerged from a field comprised of hundreds of student singers from Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Ontario. The three are voice majors and minors, studying with Taylor vocal faculty members Dr. Patricia Robertson and Dr. Conor Angell.

Jameson, Park and Gamble earned the right to compete in the regional following their success at state-level competition at DePauw University in November.

They are active in campus performances, including opera, musical theater, and choral ensembles. The TU Music Department and School of Liberal Arts are proud of these students who received awards in this highly competitive field.

“That our students placed so highly speaks well of their talents, preparation and passion,” said Taylor Music Department Chair Dr. Albert Harrison. The three are qualified to apply for the national competition, which will hold its final round in Boston in July 2014.

Additionally, Taylor adjunct professor Julie Lyn Barber earned a second place in the category Advanced Men and Women for students enrolled in graduate programs.
