From June 9-14, 2024, high school students are invited to attend one-week academic summer camps in the following areas:

Each camp provides students with college learning experiences and a final product showing what they’ve learned. The camps are designed to provide a glimpse of life as a Taylor student, allowing campers to see Taylor for themselves and prepare for college life.

“Summer camp is a great opportunity to make connections with others who share your interests, both with other students and professors,” said Holly Whitby, Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing. “We are excited every summer to welcome a new group of high school students ready to explore their passions and make new friends.”

Academic Experiences

Each academic summer camp allows students the opportunity to learn from a Taylor professor in a rigorous, condensed form that’s also fun! Along with classroom instruction, each camp has a product-focused, hands-on element.

Film camp attendees, for example, work with professional editing software, cameras, and local actors to create films that will be screened for an audience on the last day. And in the Health Science & Preventative Medicine camp, attendees will work with panoramic ultrasounds, EKGs, neurocognitive assessments, and more with campers acting as both patients and practitioners.

Social Value

During the academic day, campers are separated into their camps, but outside of class, it’s a different story. Attendees from different camps eat together in the Dining Commons, take part in Scripture engagement events, and enjoy planned Residence Life activities. Camp attendees will also get to know current Taylor students. As a part of residence life, each residence hall at Taylor has a Hall Director and multiple Personnel Assistants (PA), and camps also include this aspect of Taylor life.

“Many of our campers stay in touch with one another long past camp and often enroll at Taylor together,” said Whitby.

Spiritual Depth

Director of Taylor University Center for Scripture Engagement Dr. Philip Collins leads camp attendees in reading and reflecting on Scripture. Campers break into small groups to discuss their personal lives and what God has been teaching them. Events like worship nights and Scripture engagement events are the heartbeat of these academic camps.
