Taylor University will celebrate its 2012 Homecoming on Friday, October 19, and Saturday, October 20, with reunions, athletic contests, food, the dedication of the $41.4 million Euler Science Complex, and a celebration of the Taylor student newspaper’s 100-year anniversary.

Officials expect more than 1,000 alumni to attend the events, which begin with chapel at 10:00 a.m., in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium.

Among the weekend’s highlights is the 4:00 p.m., Friday, dedication of the Euler Science Complex. The event will be held in the Lembright Atrium – a four-story atrium that connects the new Euler complex with the already-existing Nussbaum Science Center.

Also scheduled is a 100-year anniversary celebration of Taylor’s student newspaper The Echo, which is scheduled in the Rupp Communications Center lobby from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Saturday.

Taylor’s theatre department will present But Not Destroyed – The Story of Calvin Fairbank. The play tells the story of Methodist minister Calvin Fairbank, who was imprisoned for helping slaves escape to northern states during the years leading up to the American Civil War. Show times are 7:30 p.m., Friday, and 2:30 p.m., Saturday, in the Mitchell Theatre, Rupp Communication Arts Center.

Also scheduled is the annual 5K Alumni Run/Walk, a lacrosse alumni scrimmage, football game with defending national champion St. Xavier, and an alumni celebration concert.
