Taylor University’s Social Work department has received high rankings on two surveys measuring social work programs.

The department was ranked number one on SocialWorkDegree.org’s 2019 Best Bachelor's Social Work Degrees in Indiana list and 6th place on their 2019 Best Bachelor's Social Work Degrees list. The program also was named the number three program on CollegeFactual.com's 2019 Best Social Work Schools in Indiana list

According to Professor Cathy J. Harner, Taylor’s Director of Social Work Education, over 586 graduates from the program have proceeded to serve in the Peace Corps, various missions organizations, and in their communities, with some international students returning to serve in their home countries of China, the Bahamas, Canada, Germany, and Kenya. In the states, students have completed practicums and become employed in LA, Minneapolis, Seattle, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Austin, TX, NYC, Chicago, Kansas City, Baltimore, as well as throughout Indiana in Marion, Muncie, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis.

“Taylor University has been blessed to attract gifted students who have hearts for their Creator and hearts for humankind, which was created in His image,” Harner said. “We are grateful for this recognition, but we are most grateful for the lives that are impacted by our graduates.”

“We are humbled to have the program honored in this way,” Harner added. “Our students typically come to Taylor with a high work ethic which is a credit to the parents who value a Christian liberal arts education. Our graduates have created opportunities to soar within the social work profession as they seek to become the 'hands and feet of Jesus' to a hurting world.”
