Scholarships

Scholarships are a type of financial aid that does not need to be repaid, and are awarded to students based on merit—grades, ability, or talent. The following scholarships are available to our students.

Academic

President, Dean, Faculty, Trustee, and Director Scholarships

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: $6,000-$15,000

Eligibility:

To calculate your merit-based aid:

  1. Find your GPA and your ACT or SAT scores on the first and second charts below
  2. Add the corresponding points together
  3. Find the sum on the last chart

You must have a minimum 2.9 GPA and board score of 19/980 to qualify. SAT score is calculated by combining the Reading and Math portions of the test and is based on the post-Fall 2015 test version (use conversion tool to convert scores). Scholarship is renewable each year with a 3.0 Taylor GPA.

These award amounts are for 2018-2019.

The scholarship received is determined by adding GPA points and ACT/SAT points to find your total Scholarship Points.

Academic Merit Award

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: $15,000

Eligibility: Must be a National Merit Finalist. This award replaces the President, Dean, Faculty, Trustee, or Director Scholarship.

Class Merit Awards

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: $4,00 - $8,000

Eligibility: Must be a current Taylor student. Award given to sophomores through seniors who are not President, Dean, Faculty, Trustee, or Director Scholarship recipients and have a 3.5+ cumulative GPA.

Transfer Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: $10,000

Eligibility: Awarded to all transfer students who have taken at least one year of college credit after high school and have a college GPA of 3.0. This academic scholarship is awarded in lieu of other academic scholarships.

Co-Curricular

Art Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: Must be accepted to Taylor and a declared Art or Art Education major. Amount based on FAFSA.

Athletic Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: Must be accepted to Taylor and demonstrate an exceptional athletic ability. Awards given by each athletic team.


Community Scholarship

Description: Most students who apply to Taylor are actively committed to a specific community. These communities may be academic or extra-curricular school or local organizations, church groups, or focused on an area of social justice. We are looking for community scholars who are active now, and will continue to add to our Taylor community by bringing their passion to campus and continuing in areas of service.

To apply for the Community Scholarship, we want to hear about work that is meaningful to you. Identify a specific opportunity where you are involved, ways in which you participate, and explain your motivation. We look forward to learning more about your current work and ways you hope to continue using your gifts, talents and interest during your college career.

*Minimum of 400 - max of 700 word essay

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Up to $3,000

Eligibility: Must apply to Taylor by December 1 their senior year of high school. Taylor must receive all supporting documents—SAT/ACT/CLT scores, high school transcript, Christian Character Reference—by December 10. Only accepted students will be considered for the scholarship.

Music Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: Must be accepted to Taylor and demonstrate an exceptional music ability. An audition with the Music department is required.

Diversity

International Student Scholarship

Description: Must be non-U.S. citizen. We believe these students will make distinct contributions and provide cultural enrichment as members and graduates of the Taylor community.

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Up to $10,000

Eligibility: Must be accepted to Taylor and demonstrate cultural diversity as described above; no additional application.


Cultural Diversity Scholarship

Description: Every student brings to campus a unique and personal set of experiences and perspectives. In particular, the contributions from an individual’s cultural background or ethnic origin are important to the larger Taylor community. In keeping with its mission, the University desires to provide a program designed to recruit and retain students who are committed to diversity and have a passion for promoting awareness. We believe these students will make distinctive contributions and provide cultural enrichment as a member and graduate of the Taylor community. Applicants for this grant may be American ethnic students, Americans who have lived in another country for an extended period of time, or students intentionally engaged in a multi-ethnic community. The grant is awarded during a student’s admission process once need is determined by filing the FAFSA.

Indiana Residents

Alspaugh - Hodson Family Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Starting at $7,000

Eligibility: Must be an Indiana resident, full-time student majoring in Education, eligible for need-based aid, and have a personal relationship with Christ.

Muselman Memorial Scholarship

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: $2,000 - $10,000

Eligibility: Eligibility: Must be a full-time student; a resident of Adams County, Indiana; maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale; and give evidence of strong Christian leadership and character.

Dollars for Scholars

Amount: Match up to $500

Eligibility: Must be a Dollars for Scholars recipient


Endowed Scholarships

Type of Aid: Scholarship

Amount: Varies

Eligibility: Most reserved for full-time upperclassmen. No application required. Additional eligibility requirements may be applicable for each scholarship, such as a completed FAFSA form.


Halbrook Freedom Scholarship

Description: The Halbrook Family Foundation affirms its desire to advance the mission of Taylor University to develop servant leaders marked with a passion to minister Christ’s redemptive love and truth to a world in need. That mission, it believes, can only be truly advanced over time by a free people competing in free markets, unfettered by government in the practice of their faith and in pursuit of their God-given potential. For that reason, it has chosen to establish the Halbrook Freedom Scholarship to inspire and encourage Taylor students of deep Christian beliefs to grasp the essentiality of, and strive to uphold, the enduring principles of the United States of America. In so doing, these recipients will bequeath to the future a way of life that has made this country the most prosperous and generous in human history. There is a special, though not exclusive, interest in helping students interested in entrepreneurship, education, media, and government.
