Taylor University’s Business Department has achieved accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
The ACBSP was founded in 1988 to create an accreditation process designed to fit the needs of business programs offered by colleges and universities by focusing on teaching and learning that occurs in the classroom. According to the ACBSP website, “Accreditation focuses on recognizing teaching excellence, determining student learning outcomes, and a continuous improvement model. ACBSP’s student-centered teaching and learning approach, which is measured and analyzed for quality, ensures that students gain the right skills from their educational investment. Institutions with programs accredited by ACBSP are committed to continuous improvement that ensures their business program will give students the skills employers want.”
“Our students have always benefited from high caliber programs and mentoring from outstanding faculty,” said Dr. Jody Hirschy, Associate Professor of Marketing and Chair of the Business Department. “But ACBSP accreditation of our program adds another dimension to that experience in that it signifies an external, respected and impartial group has reviewed and validated Taylor’s business program as meeting their rigorous standards.”
Hirschy said a celebration is planned for Thursday, February 16, for all business students, faculty, and staff to mark the achievement, and that the department will be honored at the 2017 ACBSP National Conference June 24–27, 2017, in Anaheim, Calif.
