More than 1,000 Expected for this Weekend’s Taylor Homecoming

Taylor University officials say they expect more than 1,000 Taylor alumni and friends will attend 2015 Homecoming activities, scheduled Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24.

The annual event includes alumni award winners who have been selected by Taylor’s alumni council. This year’s award recipients include:

James Garringer H'15, Honorary Alumnus
Ben and Laura Harrison ’05, Distinguished Service Young Alumni 

Dr. Trina Helderman ’00, Distinguished Service Alumna 

Dr. Colleen Kraft ’98, Distinguished Service Alumna 

Dr. David Leveille ’60, Distinguished Service Alumnus

“We are excited about this year’s alumni award winners,” said Dara Berkhalter, Executive Director of Alumni Relations. “They exemplify Taylor in their lives and in their work. This year’s winners are serving Taylor across the United States and beyond, and truly are examples of living out the towel in their everyday life.”


Homecoming weekend highlights include:


10:00 a.m. – Homecoming Chapel, Odle Arena

1:30-3:30 p.m. – Alumni Award Reception, Legacy ’64 Commons, Euler Science Complex

7:00 p.m. – Volleyball, Odle Arena

7:00 p.m. – Alumni flag football, Turner Stadium



8:00 a.m. – 5K Walk and Roll, Campus course

Reunion Row, KSAC

12:00 – 4:00 p.m. – Kids Zone, Kesler Student Activities Center

1:00 pm. – Football, Turner Stadium (Hall of Fame class introduction at halftime)

4:00 p.m. – Women’s Soccer, Turner Stadium

9:00 p.m. – Late Night @ TU, Lembright Atrium, Euler Science Complex


Additionally, Taylor’s Athletic Hall of Fame will also induct a new class that includes:

Joshua Staley ’04 (Football)

Sigrid Schaffroth ’64 (Women’s Basketball)

Laura (York ’07) Edgerton (Women’s Track and Field and Women’s Cross Country)

Jack Welch ’80 (Coaching)
