Taylor University will present Legends of Motown and More Monday, January 20, at 7:30 p.m., in the Rediger Chapel/Auditorium. The six-member professional ensemble Horizon will present classic Motown hits in an energetic and authentic style with full costume and choreography.
Tickets for the event are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and seniors and will be available at the door. Taylor faculty, staff and students with a valid Taylor ID get in free.
The event is part of Taylor's annual celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. federal holiday.
Horizon was spotted on The Tonight Show hosted by Jay Leno in a clip from the New York Auto Show and has been featured in Business Week Magazine. Horizon has shared the stage with many legendary performers such as The Temptations and The Four Tops. Horizon’s recent hit single, Swing Engine, was performed in St. Croix, where the record was number one on the charts for weeks.
As part of the MLK Day of Remembrance at Taylor University, the ensemble members will be presenting a forum on “The Impact of Motown Music in the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s”. That event will be held in Rediger Chapel at 2:00 pm and is open to the public free of charge.
