Indiana’s Teacher of the Year to Address Taylor StudentsPublished: Sep 18, 2012
Melanie Park, the State of Indiana’s Teacher of the Year, will be the featured speaker at a lecture for education majors on the Taylor University campus. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday at 7:00 p.m., in the Butz-Carruth Recital Hall.
Park is a remediation reading teacher at Riverview Middle School in Huntington, Ind. “Melanie’s enthusiasm spills into all aspects of her teaching,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. Tony Bennett. “She believes all students – regardless of their life circumstances – can learn, and she is an effective and inspirational teacher that her students will always remember.”
“Melanie will share her philosophy of education in the classroom, teaching strategies and methodologies she uses, as well as encouraging our Taylor education majors to be the best teacher they can possibly be,” Taylor Education Department Chair Dr. Cindy Tyner said. “Within the education department classrooms, we work to teach through modeling. This opportunity is a chance for our students to watch an award winning teacher model her enthusiasm and giftedness for teaching.”
Park’s presentation is open to the public. There is no admission charge.
