Taylor University and Athletic Director Dr. Angie Fincannon announced on Tuesday that Holly Motheral had accepted the offer to become the ninth head coach in the 42-year history of the TU volleyball program.
Motheral previously served as an assistant coach at Montreat College and the University of Rio Grande.
"Holly has worked hard, prepared well and is ready to take over as the next leader of our volleyball program," stated Fincannon. "Taylor volleyball is in good hands with Coach Motheral. God has equipped her with knowledge and skills that will bring new vision and continued success to our program."
"I am very excited to have been offered the head coaching position at Taylor University and I am thankful that God has opened this door for me," said Motheral. "I want to thank Dr. Fincannon and the Taylor administration for providing me with this opportunity."
Motheral spent the 2012 season as an assistant coach at Montreat, leading the Cavaliers to a 22-13 overall record and a berth in the championship match of the Appalachian Athletic Conference Tournament.
Prior to her stay at Montreat, Motheral served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Rio Grande, helping the Red Storm to a 43-29 record and back-to-back appearances in the semifinal round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
Motheral garnered further experience with two seasons as the head coach of the Southern United Volleyball Club during her time at Rio Grande, while also serving as the program's camp co-director in the summers of 2010 and 2011.
Motheral completed a master's degree in educational leadership from Rio Grande in 2012, after graduating from Houghton College in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in physical education.
