Six students from the University of Azuay in Cuenca, Ecuador, are wrapping up a month-long stay on the Taylor University campus.
The students visited Taylor as part of a new program, Discover 16, sponsored by Taylor’s Spencer Center for Global Engagement.
Since their arrival on February 20, the students have attended classes, lived in the residence halls, and experienced the campus culture, engaging in residence hall activities as well as with various groups like the Latino Student Union and Taylor Study Abroad alumni.
According to Maddy Trudeau, a student in Taylor’s Master of Arts in Higher Education (MAHE) and graduate assistant for The Spencer Center for Global Engagement, the students have participated in Taylor’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program, designed to help non-native speakers improve their English language skills through classwork and tutoring.
A highlight of the month-long visit included a February 27 trip to Chicago. The group returns to Ecuador on March 17.
