MAHE students experience a breadth of learning opportunities throughout the program. While a cohort model is not in itself unique to graduate programs, the fully-residential experience within Taylor’s MAHE program allows students the opportunity to learn, live, and work alongside others within a Christ-centered community. The cohort allows for depth in relationships, learning, and growth amidst the various challenges graduate school may bring. Additionally, faculty approach the learning environment with whole-person education in mind, encouraging students to become critical thinkers and deeper learners from a Christian perspective.
The MAHE program considers both scholarship and practice vital components of the student experience. The scholar-practitioner model represents the significance of students not only learning in the classroom and gaining practical experience through an assistantship, but the seamless flow of learning between the two. Students can expect to be active participants in class discussions, engage with both faculty and peers as colleagues, and gain greater understanding of the state of higher education through various capacities.
Another unique aspect of the student experience at Taylor is the opportunity to study abroad in England and Wales. During the third semester, students will study the comparison of U.S. and U.K. higher education, culminating in a two-week study abroad experience. Students will gain a significant understanding of the U.K. higher education system, visit various institutions in London, Oxford, Bath, and Wales, and build an international network. The experience concludes with the Society for Research in Higher Education conference where many of our students present their own research.
