Communicate Visually
The Graphic Art major is for students who enjoy expressing ideas visually and would like to pursue a career in commercial art—whether graphic design, digital art, illustration, animation, or photography. Whether in print or online, strong and effective visual communicators are always in demand.
Taylor’s art courses require experimentation and hands-on work as you put artistic principles and theories into action. You’ll build a professional portfolio as you learn to use art to effectively communicate messages, stories, and ideas. As a Graphic Art major, you’ll also gain foundational art skills and develop your artistic voice, while learning to harness it to communicate thoughts and ideas.
All Art students take courses within a core Art curriculum. These courses give you a well-rounded view of art, building a solid foundation in drawing, 2D art, 3D design, art history, and faith integration for the rest of the Art program. You will produce work for clients, develop expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and apply visual communication principles to project-based classes. Seniors showcase their compiled portfolios beside their best works at an exhibition in Metcalf Gallery.
