I originally came to Taylor in 2015 for the MAHE program (Master of Arts in Higher Education and Student Development) after growing up in Massachusetts. The transition to Indiana was a challenging one after living in the northeast for all of my life! However, I quickly fell in love with the community at Taylor, and before I knew it, I was signing on to be a full time faculty member in Residence Life. I love working in Residence Life because of the opportunity that it gives for whole-person development and depth of relationship with the students that I interact with. Olson Hall is so much more than a dorm!
My advice to incoming students is to be open to changing your mind--about your major, your future plans, and the ways that God can and does work. In undergrad I studied Chemistry and Secondary Education, but I also had the opportunity to be a Resident Advisor (RA) in Residence Life. Before college I always thought I would be a classroom teacher, but my experience in Residence Life redirected me towards a career that has changed my life in all the right ways. Being at Taylor has also allowed me to travel internationally for missions and see the Lord at work in Europe in ways that I never expected.
