Media Communication

Visit Taylor’s Media Communication website or contact one of our faculty members if you have questions regarding our degrees and majors.

Bachelor of Arts (BA) options require a foreign language. Bachelor of Science (BS) options pair major requirement with Taylor's systems curriculum.

Film & Media Production, BA & BS
As a film and media production major at Taylor, you will create festival-ready film and video projects using state-of-the-art cameras and editing equipment. Our award-winning program covers four kinds of production: narrative filmmaking, documentary filmmaking, video production for clients, and multi-camera studio production.

Our department's emphasis on great storytelling, combined with our array of cameras, lights, jibs/dollies, and professional editing suites, helps you create projects worthy of the big screen. Hollywood isn’t just a pipe dream—our graduates work in the entertainment industry and so can you.

Journalism/Media Writing, BA & BS
If you write for your school paper, enjoy designing layouts or taking pictures, and love telling stories through the web, newspapers, magazines, or other media outlets, Taylor's journalism and media writing degree is for you.

Our journalism and media writing major will prepare you to craft messages with insight, Christian ethics, and passion in all forms of writing including print, broadcast, web, and audio/radio. Our program teaches you to tell stories in as many ways possible, not just through words, but also through design, photos, audio and video. Journalism and media writing majors have the opportunity to write for and edit our award-winning student newspaper.

Public Relations, BA & BS
If you enjoy writing, organizing, and event planning, if you are good with people and think quickly on your feet, consider a public relations major.

Taylor's public relations major trains students to deliver strategic communication campaigns professionally in corporate, agency, nonprofit or ministry settings in a truthful and responsible way. You will use digital media tools and gain experience with real clients, helping them enhance their reputation, educate their audiences, and promote their organization in their community.

Taylor is a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), an organization that aids students by enhancing their education, broadening their networks, and launching their careers. PRSSA members meet with industry professionals and have created a promotional package for a community education program, toured notable agencies, and job-shadowed professionals in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne. PRSSA offers continual opportunities for scholarships and networking.

Web Communication, BA & BS
If you’re interested in making the web central to your career, managing web teams, designing amazing sites, helping companies use social media strategically, and creating content for online distribution, our web communication major is for you.

Websites are often the first impression of any company, agency or organization. Our web communication degree prepares you to help your future employer understand the importance of creating and maintaining an interactive, dynamic website to attract customers and clients. It will also prepare you to work in all aspects of the web including interactive web design, web writing, photojournalism, production, social media and more.
