Chapel Featuring Pastor Scott Poling
Scott Poling is Senior Pastor of Harvest Bible Church in Oswego, Illinois. Scott and wife Carla have five children including Brynna, a senior at Taylor, and Grason, a junior. Scott graduated from Cedarville University (1990) and Dallas Theological Seminary (1994). Scott enjoys running, hiking in national parks, the Jersey shore, and spending time with family enjoying life’s simple pleasures.
Enjoy performances by the Jazz Ensemble, Chorale, Taylor Sounds, Jazz Combo, Taylor Ringers, Pep Band, faculty and student soloists, and others throughout the weekend.
Attend classes with your student on Friday. Come prepared to listen and take notes! A listing of all closed classes will be available at Registration.
All That Jazz
Join other parents, students, faculty, and staff for this fun-filled evening event featuring great food, mingling, photo booth, and music by the Jazz Combo. Explore the Green Roof and Legacy ’64 Commons Balcony for fresh night air (weather permitting).
Enjoy two volleyball matches and a football game on Saturday. Admission charged. Men’s and women’s flag football championships will be held Friday night. No charge.
Interactive and spontaneous, playback theatre bases its material on the stories of the community. Performances are carried out by a team of actors, emcee (conductor) and musician. Audience members respond to questions from the conductor, then watch actors and musician create brief theatre pieces on the spot. Later, audience volunteers tell longer stories and choose actors to play the main roles. Playback Theatre draws people together, allows fresh perspectives and is practiced in over 50 countries. Admission charged.
Portmanteaux will feature the works of Art Department faculty members Suzie Dittenber and Josh Welker.

KSAC Fitness Center and Fieldhouse Open
Families are invited to utilize The Well (fitness center) and field house (lap pool not available and field house closed 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday for team practices). Show your Parents and Family Weekend nametag for entrance.
Residence Halls Open House
Hang out on your Taylor student’s wing/floor and experience a bit of their home-away-from-home during these special open house hours.
Parents and Family Weekend 5K Walk/Run
Enjoy a family-friendly 5K walk or run hosted by the Taylor women’s cross country team. Prizes awarded for several divisions. All registered participants receive a TU shirt, water and snack following the race. Reservations required - $12 participation fee.
Presidential Prayer Brunch and Presidential/Faculty Reception
Join Dr. Eugene Habecker for this inspiration time of prayer and sharing over a delicious brunch, followed by a reception with University leaders and faculty members available to engage and answer questions.
Other Special Meals
Join with other parents, students, and family members for a Harvest Buffet in the Hodson Dining Commons featuring delicious fall-themed selections for your enjoyment. Admission charged.
On Saturday it’s GAME DAY at Taylor! Enjoy a Tailgate Dinner with all of your favorite tailgate food. Stay for the football game and enjoy a fireworks display following the game.
Cardboard Boat Regatta
This event tests creativity and engineering as teams are given raw materials (cardboard, plastic sheets and duct tape) and one hour to build the best lake-faring vessel. Then, at least one team members boards their creation and the race across Taylor Lake is on! Prizes awarded to the winning team; great participation and spectator event that is fun for everyone. Family teams are encouraged! Reservations required; more information will be e-mailed to participants prior to the event.
Parent Led Prayer Time
Meet at the Memorial Prayer Chapel to start the day in prayer for Taylor University with other parents prior to the Sunday Morning Worship Service.
Sunday Morning Worship Featuring Pastor Scott Hesler
Scott is Senior Pastor of Potomac Baptist Church in Potomac Falls, Virginia. He a graduate of Taylor University (1979) and Dallas Theological Seminary (1983) and enjoys teaching God’s word and equipping leaders. He has been on mission trips to Nigeria, Mexico, the Bahamas, and China. The primary joy of Scott’s life is his family. In 1984 he married Laurie. They have four children: Kaleigh; Elissa; Hayden, a junior at Taylor; and Matthew, whom they adopted from China in 2006.
