Tower4Parents

Q: How do I access the TOWER Parent application?

If you have been granted access by your student, you can view their information by following the instructions below:
  • Visit TOWER for Parent.
  • Login using the TOWER ID and Pin number that your son/daughter provides you.
  • The first time you log on, you will be asked to change you password and provide a "Pin Hint Question" and answer.

If your son or daughter had previously given you their TOWER password it is extremely important that they change their  password and that you begin using your own TOWER Id and pin number from this point forward.

  • Select the Parent Access (TOWER4parent) menu option.
  • Select Show Student Information.
  • Select a Name from the drop down list.
  • Select Submit.
  • Select the Page to view.
  • Select Exit when you are finished.

Q: My child has given me permission to see mid-term grades, but I don't see any. Is there something wrong?

Mid-term grades are posted only if they are below 'C'. Therefore, the fact that you can't see any mid-term grades for your child is a good thing!

Q: What are the suggested guidelines for creating a security question?

The question should be something that only you can answer.  The answer should be short.  When you answer in the future, you must be able to answer exactly (including case and punctuation).

Q: What if I forget my PIN (personal identification number)?

You can use the "Forgot PIN" button on the login page.  After typing in your ID number you can select the "Forgot Pin" button and the system will allow you to change your PIN if you answer your question correctly, or you can also contact your son or daughter.

Q: What is FERPA?

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal Law that protects the privacy of students and prohibits institutions of higher education from disclosing any student information, including financial information, without the explicit authorization of the student.  FERPA regulations are strictly adhered to in the design of  the TOWER for Parent application.

Q: What is TOWER for Parent?

TOWER for Parent is part of the Taylor Online Web Enabled Record (TOWER) system. TOWER for Parent, you access to selected parts of the information your son or daughter can see from their own TOWER account. Student information is protected and private. As a parent, you can only see the information to which you have been granted access by your student.

Q: Who do I contact if I experience difficulties?

Should you need assistance navigating through the TOWER, forget your ID or PIN number, or experience any other difficulties you should contact your son or daughter.  Since the student uses the same web pages that you will be using, the student should be the first and best resource for help.  If you are unable to resolve the issue the student can send an e-mail to: TOWER4parent@taylor.edu.

Q: Why do I get an error message when I try to access TOWER from work?

Many businesses have a firewall that will not allow access to some outside internet sites.  You may have to contact the network administrator at your workplace to see if an adjustment can be made to the firewall software to allow you to access the Taylor University site.

Q: Why does only one of my children's names appear as a selection?

To be in compliance with FERPA, the student has complete control over what information, if any, his/her parent(s) can view.  If your student's name does not appear, he/she has not granted you access to their account information.
