Devotions written by Taylor University students and their professor are featured in a newly-released one year devotional book titled The Spirit Calling: Awaken to the Sound of His Voice, published by Worthy Publishers, Nashville, Tenn. Among the 23 contributing authors who wrote the book are 11 students from Taylor’s professional writing program and their professor, Dr. Dennis E. Hensley.

“This was the third time I was asked by the editors at Worthy to put together a team of a dozen writers to help write a devotional book,” said Hensley. “We were given the theme of writing devotions from the perspective of the Holy Spirit. Each of the students and I had to write ten devotions last May. I recruited 11 of my students, they did the writing and hit the deadline, and now the book has been released in time for Christmas.”

The student writers from Taylor are: Ashlee Amann, Kyle Carruthers, Sarah Cespedes, Ryan Dennison, Kacey Heinlein, Katelyn Irons, Lexie Owen, Jeremy Paul, Demelza Ramirez, Joshua Spotts and Tom Vick.

The Spirit Calling: Awaken to the Sound of His Voice is the fifty-fourth book Hensley has authored or co-written. The 11 students have written articles, reviews and interviews that have been published in a wide variety of newspapers and magazines, but for each this was his or her first book. The book sells for $14.99 and is available in Christian bookstores nationwide or through the Worthy Publishing website, worthypublishing.com.
