Taylor's Music Department Announces December Events

Taylor University's Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance will conclude the Fall 2017 semester with a series of Christmas-themed concerts and recitals. The public is invited and there is no admission charge.

The Center for Musical Development is a community program offering local children the opportunity to study piano with a college student serving as the teacher under the supervision of a professional teacher. If you have or know of children who have been taking piano lessons through this program, you will want to plan to attend this fun recital.

 

Sing Noel : Christmas Around the World

We invite you to begin the Christmas season with us as the Taylor University Chorale and Taylor Sounds host Sing Noel: Christmas Around the World this Saturday evening, December 2, at 7:30 pm, in Rediger Chapel/Auditorium. Included on this year’s program are the children’s’ choirs from Eastbrook North Elementary in Upland and Inspire Choir from Muncie as well as the Taylor brass and string ensembles. Plan to come early and bring your family and friends for this annual holiday event.

Please join the Taylor Ringers this Sunday evening, December 3, at 7:00 pm, in the Butz Carruth Recital Hall in the Smith-Hermanson Music Center for their end-of-the-year concert. The program will feature worship music, spirituals, and Christmas music.

Overtures, Dances and Luther is the theme of the Fall Concert to be presented by the Taylor University Symphony Orchestra. An exciting concert of orchestral music by Bernstein, Grieg, Beethoven, Bartok and Mendelssohn will culminate in a performance of the Finale to his Symphony No. 5 Reformation to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Luther’s protest. Everyone is warmly invited to enjoy this meaningful and beautiful music on Monday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 pm in Rediger Chapel/Auditorium.

 

Adoration Chorus and Friends

Adoration Women’s Chorus will perform sacred and South African music in their final concert of the semester scheduled for Thursday, December 7, at 7:30 pm, in the Butz Carruth Recital Hall. Also joining them will be cellist Samantha Carlson performing the third movement of Haydn’s C Major Concerto.
