The Northern Wind Trio will present a free recital at Room 148 in the Smith-Hermanson Music Center at 7:00 p.m., January 20.
Comprised of performers Tamir Hargana, Zac Economou, and Aaron Marsala, Northern Wind performs Mongolian throat singing, Mongolian fusion music, and some Middle Eastern tunes.
Hargana, Economou and Marsala are all graduate students at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Ill. The instruments used by Northern Wind include guitar, horse-head fiddle, lute, and didgeridoo. The trio is a fusion band in which various musical ideas co-exist to foster an intercultural dialogue and exchange.
The Northern Wind Trio's performance is hosted by Taylor University's Department of Music, Theatre and Dance. The public is invited; there is no charge for admission.
