Language Placement Testing Policy and Dates

By Pamela Pegg, Program Assistant for Department of Modern Languages Published: Jun 26, 2014

Spanish and French placement testing will be offered in Room 140 of the Reade Liberal Arts Center on Monday, August 25, at 9:00 am, and again on Wednesday, August 27, at 4:00 pm. Please watch for registration information in TU Announcements around the first of August.

Modern Languages Placement Policy: (effective Fall 2011)

1.       Students with up to 2 full years of high school Spanish will be placed in SPA 102.

2.       Students with up to 3 full years of high school Spanish or French will be placed in Spanish 201 or French 201.

3.       Students with up to 4 full years of high school Spanish or French will be placed in Spanish 202 or French 202.

The testing procedure is optional and may help a student place into a higher class in Spanish.

Placement testing is offered at Taylor University free of charge by members of the Modern Languages Department for students who wish to try to place in a higher class or to test out of taking a foreign language. It is important to note that only French 201 and 202 are offered at this time.

If you have any questions concerning Spanish or French placement testing, please contact Pam Pegg at pmpegg@taylor.edu.
