2013 Taylor University Youth Conference Begins Friday, April 19By Jim Garringer Published: Apr 16, 2013
Abide is the theme of the 2013 Taylor University Youth Conference – an annual springtime event that draws hundreds of high school youth from throughout the Midwest to the Taylor campus.
The conference begins Friday, April 19 and concludes Sunday, April 21. During the three-day event, an anticipated hundreds of visiting high school students will attend joint worship services, workshops, play games, eat in the campus Dining Commons, and attend a Saturday evening concert featuring Taylor alum Joe Paulson and Christian recording artist Phil Wickham.
The Youth Conference tradition at Taylor began more than 80 years ago and is geared toward high school students, grades 9-12. Students will attend four main sessions throughout the weekend and participate in worship services with this year’s featured speaker Jesse Kahler (TU ’06).
“One of the most dynamic and rewarding aspects of YC high school students’ opportunity have to be in a small group led by Taylor students,” said Youth Conference co-directors Eric Rupp and Katy Spence. “Small groups meet together after each main session, giving students the chance to ask questions and engage in in-depth discussions together.”
Time is also set aside for youth group breakouts and youth group free time in an attempt to balance out the time spent in small groups. “We truly value the relationships between youth leaders and students so we try our best to create an environment and culture where those relationships can be strengthened,” added Rupp and Spence.
Tickets for the Phil Wickham concert cost $10.00 at the door.
