Why I love teaching at Taylor:
I enjoy teaching as part of First Year Programming at Taylor because it is a special place where students and faculty can engage one another in the deep questions of life under our common faith in Jesus Christ. Institutionally, Taylor has a rich history of faith-learning integration and we encourage one another to love God with our hearts, soul, mind and strength both in and out of the classroom, on and off campus. We also care deeply for one another and seek to model Christ-like character as we make allowances for human brokenness while also offering a call to restoration and redemption. The Taylor community is unique and palpable – the Spirit of God most certainly resides here. I am grateful that God continues to find favor on this wonderful place we call Taylor University!
Advice to incoming students:
I have had the privilege of working with college freshmen all the years I’ve worked at Taylor. Your freshman year of college is a significant milestone in which you will experience deep growth in all areas of your life. My advice is to be patient with the transition and enjoy the journey that the Lord has set before you. Embrace this time and all that it will bring as gifts from God to grow you up in Christ. Be engaged with the Taylor community - what you pour into this community is what you will get out of it. On the practical side, call home once a week and be sure to sleep 7-8 hours a night!
I am married to Keith and we have two children, Meghan & Andrew. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading, and making family photo albums. I am involved in work and church activities, as well as support my husband and children in their activities. I especially enjoy summertime – trips to the lake, the hot weather, green trees, grass & blooming flowers. And, I really enjoy iced tea – all year round!
