Residential Network (ResNet)
Welcome to ResNet!
The Taylor University Residential Network (ResNet) is that part of Taylor's network dedicated to on-campus student use and is provided and maintained by Taylor's Information Technology department. Taylor provides a wired, 100MB connection to residence hall rooms; one for each student. Wireless access is also available in all academic and many public areas on campus.
The primary purpose of the Residential Network is to support the academic mission of the University by providing convenient access to online academic resources and the Internet. This allows students access to electronic resources on campus and around the world. These resources include myTAYLOR (Taylor's portal to campus and WWW resources), the Taylor Library online catalogs and reference systems, email, and instructional software. Beyond just hardware and wires, Taylor provides a team of I.T. employees, student technicians, residence hall directors, PA's, and RA's; all of whom are committed to helping students enjoy the full benefits of Taylor's network resources.
PC Support
PC support is offered by I.T. Client Services and covers those issues most often faced by students such as network connectivity, access to Taylor network resources (email, TOWER, Blackboard, etc.), and virus/spyware protection. In addition to phone and email support, graphical tutorials offering step-by-step instructions are provided.
Visit the Client Services page (link at left) for more info.
Free Antivirus Protection
Contributing to a safe and secure learning environment, Taylor provides Symantec AntiVirus for Windows to all on-campus students free of charge. Licenses expire when the student leaves Taylor. Instructions for obtaining and installing Symantec are provided when students get to campus.
Student Network Resources
Taylor provides each student with server space for personal files, server space for an academic Web presence and e-mail with SPAM protection. Students can choose the level of SPAM filtering they desire.
