Samuel Morris Hall

Image of Morris Hall roomThe "new" Morris Hall was constructed in 1998, but the traditions associated with this residence hall are longstanding.

The building houses 280 men on four floors that are divided into three sections. Each section shares a large centrally located social lounge. Student rooms are carpeted and the furniture is stackable, which affords students the opportunity to be creative with room layouts. Each student is provided the following:

  • a bed
  • dresser
  • desk
  • chair
  • bookcase
  • closet space

There is a main lounge, kitchen facility and prayer room located on the first floor and a large recreation area in the basement.

Samuel Morris Hall is located on the north side of campus and is quite visible upon arrival to campus. The hall is handicapped accessible and is air-conditioned.

Drew Moser, Morris Hall DirectorDrew Moser

My name is Drew Moser, and I serve as the Samuel Morris Hall Director. I'm a Taylor Grad ('02), and I consider it a true privilege to return to campus to serve the men of Morris Hall. God used my time as a student at Taylor to teach me the amazing gift of Christian Brotherhood, and it's an honor to help students discover and experience the power of intentional Christian community for themselves. Prior to this position, I received my Master's degree from Denver Seminary, served as a young adults pastor in Ohio, and served with a missions organization in Vancouver, BC focusing on leadership development. I've been married to Bekah since 2002, and we have 3 kids (Ben, Isa, and Sam) who think living in Morris Hall is pretty much the coolest thing ever.

My calling is to develop men to lead faithfully, Biblically, and courageously. My prayer is that the men who live in Morris Hall leave Taylor equipped and empowered to make an impact for Christ. I also hope that, while they are here, they will be given every opportunity to be a part of a community that encourages, challenges, and uplifts one another.

Mark Rippetoe, Morris Assistant Hall DirectorMark Rippetoe

My name is Mark Rippetoe, and I am the Assistant Hall Director in Samuel Morris Hall. I am originally from Nashville, TN and have moved to Taylor most recently from St. Louis, MO. I received my Master of Divinity degree from Covenant Seminary and am currently working on my Master of Arts in Higher Education at Taylor. I met my wife, Sarah, in college, and we have been married for seven years. Beside working with students and studying, I enjoy spending time outdoors, playing Ultimate Frisbee and triathlon training. I have completed two half-Ironman races and would like to complete the full distance. I have also served as a FireFighter and in the Military.

I hope that my diversity of experiences will connect me with Morris men and give me the wisdom that I need to encourage them toward growth. I enjoy the challenge of this job because of its relational nature and the chance for lasting impact. My mission is that we would all walk out of Morris Hall with further faithfulness to Jesus Christ and pursuing that which he has called us.
