Samuel Morris Hall

Image of Morris Hall roomThe "new" Morris Hall was constructed in 1998 but the traditions associated with this residence hall are longstanding.

The building houses 280 men on four floors that are divided into three sections. Each section shares a large centrally located social lounge. Student rooms are carpeted and the furniture is stackable, which affords students the opportunity to be creative with room layouts. Each student is provided:

  • a bed
  • dresser
  • desk
  • chair
  • bookcase
  • closet space

There is a main lounge, kitchen facility and prayer room located on the first floor and a large recreation area in the basement.

Samuel Morris Hall is located on the north side of campus and is quite visible upon arrival to campus. The hall is handicapped accessible and the rooms are air-conditioned.

Justin Heth, Morris Hall Director

Justin HethMy name is Justin Heth and I serve as the Samuel Morris Hall Director. My wife Hannah and I were married May 26, 2002, and moved into Samuel Morris a few months later as the assistant hall director. I have been associated and involved in the Taylor Community since 1987 when my family moved from Texas and my father, Bill, became a professor in the Bible and religion department. I graduated from Taylor in 2000 with a Christian education major and an associate degree in business. From the day I graduated from Taylor until the day I returned on the residence life staff, I have had a variety of employment experiences including roofing, driving semi trucks, building ropes courses, working in a factory, playing professional football in Italy and ministering at Christian camps. My passion is for people; and I have learned well that regardless of occupation, as believers we are called to be light in the darkness.

The assistant hall director and I, along with twelve personnel assistants are here to help men of God grow. My vision for Morris Hall is to have men who not only speak about their faith in Christ, but live it out. I want Morris men to battle for each other and stand together to lift each other up. We desire to be "our brothers keepers." I want guys to be challenged in their relationship with Christ in such a way that it forces them to act differently than the world. John 10:10 says, "I have come so that they may have life and have it more abundantly." For students and for the hall directors, life in Samuel Morris Hall is more than just training men for careers and getting a degree -- it is about growing into men of God and being prepared to take Christ into the world and shine as lights.
