Bergwall Hall

Image of Bergwall Hall roomIn this common lounge residence hall, the 181 men and women students are housed on separate floors and have the opportunity to spend time together in the first floor lounge.

The floors are arranged in a traditional format with spacious rooms lining each side of a central corridor. Rooms are carpeted, air-conditioned, contain private bathrooms and house two or three persons (with the majority of triple rooms housing freshman students).

Furnishings include the following for each student:

  • a bed
  • desk
  • desk chair
  • dresser
  • closet space for each student.

Bergwall is situated between the Hodson Dining Commons and the Kesler Student Activity Center on the west side of campus. It is also handicapped accessible.

Jacob Drake, Bergwall Hall Director

Jacob Drake

I am Jacob Drake, and I serve as the Bergwall Hall Director. My college experience occurred right here at Taylor University. I was a resident of Wengatz Hall and during my junior and senior year had the opportunity to serve those around me as a PA. I graduated with a degree in Business Management. I have had the opportunity to work as the Assistant Hall Director in both Wengatz Hall and Samuel Morris Hall. During the 2008 school year, I transitioned over to Bergwall Hall. I am currently working toward an MBA degree and am co-owner and operator of Taylor's coffee shop, The Jumping Bean. I married my wife Whitney in September of 2006. We are expecting our first child in January of 2009.

Bergwall is the largest co-ed hall on Taylor's campus, so I work alongside eight Personnel Assistants to foster and develop growth and community in the lives of the men and women of Bergwall Hall. I want you to enjoy your time here at Bergwall Hall and for it to become one of the highlights of your time at Taylor. The PA's and I want Bergwall to be a place where you experience genuine community, a community where you learn from your mistakes, develop your identity in Christ, and create life-long friends.  God calls each of us to minister to a world in need. I believe that living in Bergwall Hall will better prepare each of us to accomplish this mission as we live life together.
