  • Know a little something about the office or department you want to visit (consult the Student Handbook, University Catalog (online), an employee or a fellow student).
  • Have a typewritten list/summary/resume of your qualifications to give the supervisor.  If you really want to make a dynamite impression though, pick up a resume-writing guide at Career Development in Student Union.
  • Wear casual but clean and neat clothing (no shorts); Make a nice appearance.
  • Use your best manners. Get the supervisor's name and title (Mr., Ms., Dr.) and use it in the conversation.
  • Write a follow-up "thank" you note for the interview and the job offer, when/if you receive one.
