IHSA

Overview

The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association is a national organization that was created to provide college students with an affordable and enjoyable opportunity to horse show during the school year. The IHSA has divided the United States into zones and subdivided into regions.

IHSA offers both Hunt Seat and Western showing, but Taylor only participates in the Hunt Seat divisions. Classes include riding on the flat and/or jumping. Traditional, formal show attire is expected at these shows, which are judged by experienced, knowledgeable individuals.

The school hosting the show provides ribbons, prizes, horses and judging. Before each class, riders draw a number, which represents the horse they will show. This aspect of IHSA is what makes it such a unique program. No practice riding is allowed. You just draw a horse, get on and do your best!
