Campbell Hall Dedication, Open House and Reception

Highlighting the Heritage Program is the dedication of Campbell Hall (3:30 p.m., Rediger Chapel, Saturday, May 2). The apartment complex at the corner of Reade Avenue and Third Street is named in honor of Walt and Mary (Baker ’65) Campbell ’64.

Unassuming, loving and a tough disciplinarian when he had to be, Campbell served Taylor for 32 years, the last 17 as dean of students. He retired in 2004.

The building, which opened August 1, 2008, provides sleeping and living areas for 60. Each apartment has its own bath and kitchen units, and is designed as two buildings with common space between. It is designed to promote community for its upper-classmen residents and incorporates the design elements of Sickler Hall and Swallow-Robin Hall, two historic buildings nearby.

Campbell Hall will be open for self-guided tours Saturday, May 2, 2:00-3:00 p.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m. A reception honoring Walt and Mary Campbell will be held during the open house hours in a tent near the water tower.
