Lady Trojans 8th at NCCAA

The Lady Trojan track & field squad placed eighth at the NCCAA Indoor Championships hosted by Cedarville University. TU was led by 14 points from junior Andrea Elsman.
Elsman began the day by setting a new Taylor indoor record by clearing 10' 10.75" in the pole vault to garner third place. In the day's final event, the triple jump, Elsman posted a leap of 34' 10.50" to grab second place.
The remainder of TU's points were accumulated through relay performances. The distance medley quartet of Kirstin Hegelein, Kayce Swofford, Ashley Henry, and Alyssa Johnson covered the 4,000 meters in 13:46.03 for fourth place.
Stephanie Kenney, Cassie Vaflor, Christine Williams, and LaJoya Smith placed fifth in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:53.52.
Smith and Swofford were joined by Meghan Young and Amy Malinowski to place eighth in the 4x400 relay.
Elsman will compete at the NAIA National Indoor Championships on March 5-7.
