Lady Trojans Place 7th at IWU

The Lady Trojan Track and Field squad placed 7th at the 13-team Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday. Andrea Elsman's win in the pole vault led TU's effort.

In addition to clearing 10'4" in the vault, Elsman added a third place in the triple jump with a leap of 33'6.75". Senior Brianna Nystrom tied for second in the high jump with a clearance of 4'11".

Also securing a runner-up spot was the 4x200 meter relay team of Cassie Vaflor, Christine Williams, Stephanie Kenney, and LaJoya Smith.

Kenney came back to place 6th in the open 200 meter race.

Smith was joined by Meghan Young, Amy Malinowski, and Kirstin Hegelein in the 4x400 meter relay where they placed 5th.

Head Coach Ted Bowers enjoy the day's performances, "We have made major headway in the past two weeks. Though very young, our squad came through in flying colors today."

Next week the Lady Trojans compete in the NCCAA Championships hosted by Cedarville University.
