Women's Track in 5th at MCC Meet

After day one of the Mid-Central College Conference Track & Field Championships, the Taylor women's track team stands in fifth place heading into Saturday's finals.

The meet leader after seven events is Bethel with 82 points, while Taylor tallied 23 points on the afternoon.

Junior Andrea Elsman led the Taylor scoring contingent with a second place finish in the pole vault with a height of 11' 9".

Taylor scored in two other field events Friday, including a fourth place effort in the long jump from sophomore Morgan Achterhoff who marked at 17' 9 ¾". Brianna Nystrom chipped in by jumping 4' 11" for sixth place in the high jump.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Ashley Henry, Kirstin Hegelein, Colleen Getz, and Alyssa Johnson ran to a fifth place finish with a time of 10:21.75.

In the prelims of the 200 meter dash, freshman Stephanie Kenney qualified for the finals after crossing the finish line with a time of 26.26.

The MCC Championships resume at 1:30 pm Saturday at the George C. Glass Track & Field Complex on the Taylor University campus.
