Trojans and Bulldogs Battle to Scoreless Tie

September 21, 2009

Through 110 minutes of action neither the Taylor University women's soccer team nor the Adrian College Bulldogs could find the back of the net. After the 0-0 tie the Trojans are now 3-3-1 on the season.

Neither team was short on chances as they tallied 36 shot attempts between them. Both clubs had equal opportunities in the first half but the Trojans took control in the second with five more attempts. The Bulldogs swung the momentum in the two overtimes outshooting the Trojans 4-1.

Goalkeeper Shawna Lane saved both shots on goal in overtime on her way to nine saves for the afternoon. Her season total was extended to 43 saves.

Ten Trojans were involved in the action by attempting at least one shot, including eight players to take shots on goal. Kelsey Lauffer led the effort with both of her attempts on the net.

The Trojans take to the pitch on Wednesday for their second game of three this week when they play host to Urbana University at 4 p.m.
