Lady Trojans Soccer Drops Second Game

August 29, 2009

The Taylor University women's soccer team dropped their second game of the season today, losing to Houghton College 3-0. It's the second shutout on the Trojans in as many games. The loss slides Taylor's record to 0-2 on the season.

The contest was a part of the second day of action at the Cedarville (Ohio) Classic. The Lady Trojans lost to the host school on Friday night after a two hour delay due to inclement weather.

On short rest, Taylor was back on the field this afternoon unable to put up a stand versus the NAIA perennial power.

Houghton netted its first goal in the 18th minute of action when Kaylin Bull connected on a Jennifer Hudson cross. Bull posted her second goal of the game early in the second half to give the Highlanders a 2-0 lead.

Carolynn Tomlinson capped off the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 89th minute.

The Trojans were outshot 28-8 on the afternoon, able to post just one shot on goal. Trojan goalkeeper Shawna Lane recorded 10 saves.

Taylor is back in action on September 5 when they travel to Illinois Tech. The Lady Trojans open at home on September 11 vs. Asbury at 4 p.m.
