Sweep of Cougars Gives Trojans Win No. 10

The No. 23 Taylor volleyball team picked up its tenth win of the season at Saint Francis Wednesday night with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-20) sweep of the Cougars. Taylor improved to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-Central College Conference.
Playing in their sixth straight match away from home, the Trojans controlled the match from the beginning for their sixth straight-set win of the season.
Pacing Taylor with her all-around play was junior outside hitter Jackie Geile, who had 10 kills for a .348 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs and one block. Reigning MCC Setter of the Week Betsy Brown led Taylor with 26 assists, while also leading the Trojans with three aces.
On the defensive side of the net, Bethany Beck led Taylor with six blocks, and Courtney Herschberger had 12 digs.
With 34 kills in the match, Taylor hit at a clip of .214 while limiting the Cougars to 23 kills and a hitting percentage of .000.
Michelle Rumschlag led Saint Francis with nine kills and nine digs.
Taylor is idle this weekend, followed by a match against Bethel on Wednesday, Sept. 23 in Odle Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
