Perfect Friday for Spikers at Earlybird

After defeating Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ill.) in straight sets (25-7, 25-10, 25-7) Friday at the UM-Dearborn Early Bird Challenge, the No. 19 Taylor volleyball team moved to a perfect 3-0 to start the season.
Taylor picked up strong performances from sophomore Bethany Beck (7 kills) and junior Kristen VandeBunte (6 kills), who each hit over .700 for the match. Rounding out the offense with four kills apiece was Colleen Nelis, Ali Swart, and Jackie Geile.
Rachel Kizer and Hope Knowling each landed three services aces, while freshman Whitney Sweet put up 17 assists.
Knowling anchored the back row with 12 digs, with VandeBunte knocking down three block assists. As a team, Taylor had six total blocks.
Waiting for Taylor tomorrow morning at 8:30 is the team's first game against a ranked opponent in No. 13 Olivet Nazarene (1-0).
