Taylor Softball Drops Opening Series
March 06, 2009
The Lady Trojan Softball team traveled to Kentucky to face off against Lindsey Wilson College to open up the 2009 season. Taylor came up short in both games, falling to 0-2 on the season.
Junior Jessica Frankhauser started on the mound in the opener for Taylor. Pitching 5 innings, Frankhauser gave up three runs. The Taylor bats only managed one run. Freshman Kristen Bauer started off her Lady Trojan career with a shutout inning in relief.
Senior Jill Tomaszewski led the way for the Lady Trojan bats going 2-3 with a triple. Fellow senior Lindsey Arnold and sophomore Emily Kramer also recorded two hits in the game.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Bauer was called upon to start. This time around, Taylor's bats were livelier against the Blue Raider pitching staff. Junior Liz Lewellen recorded two doubles while the freshmen trio of Bauer, Alyssa Brodbeck, and Laura Strode made an impact on the stat sheet with 2 runs scored and a couple of extra base hits.
Unfortunately Lindsey Wilson continued to hit the Taylor pitching as the tandem of Bauer and Tomaszewski each allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of work. The Blue Raiders picked up a 6-2 victory.
Taylor (0-2) continues its opening weekend with a doubleheader at Hanover College (1-6) on Saturday. Game one starts at 1 p.m.
