Trojans Drop Two at Marian College

The Taylor University softball team dropped both games at Marian College on Wednesday afternoon by scores of 4-1 and 6-0. The losses drop the Trojans record to 13-21 on the season and 3-11 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Marian, who is receiving votes in the national polls, improves to 33-7 (14-2, MCC).
The Knights posted a pair of runs in their first offensive opportunity of game one and matched that output in their final plate appearance. They connected on six hits for the game.
The Trojans connected on four pitches, led by Lindsey Arnold's 2-for-2 outing. Arnold entered the game leading the league with a .441 batting average and 45 hits on the season.
Jill Tomaszewski took the loss on the mound with a complete-game effort. The team's strikeout leader added four more to her season total (77).
The Knights' defense was flawless in game two allowing just four hits in the shutout. Junior Jessica Fankhauser provided a solid 5 1/3 innings of relief pitching, allowing just one run and striking out seven.
The Trojans are back in action on Friday when they play host to Indiana Wesleyan University. The double header is the final conference matchup of the regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
