Trojans Have 11 Honored as All-MSFA

Pagel Williams and Ryan Magnuson have been named to the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League First Team to headline a group of 11 Taylor football players that have been recognized by the MSFA.
Pagel Williams (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) earned the rare distinction of being named to the first team offense as a return specialist as well as a first team defensive honoree as a defensive back. The senior led the league and ranked fourth in the nation with 15.3 yards per punt return. In the first game of the season against Anderson, Williams returned two punts for scores and set a new school record with 187 total punt return yards. The performance earned him NAIA Special Teams Player of the Week. On the defensive side of the ball, Williams had one interception and nine pass breakups.
Ryan Magnuson (Grand Rapids, Mich./Lowell) was one of three receivers on the first team offense after leading the Trojans with nine touchdown catches. In nine games he recorded 43 catches for 683 yards. The junior was named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week after catching six touchdown passes and 196 yards in a win over Marian, including the game-winning score as time expired. Magnuson set three new school records this season.
Second Team MSFA Mideast League honors went to quarterback Shaun Addison (Lebanon, Ohio/Lebanon) and offensive lineman Ross Hayden (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood) on the offense. Defensive back Brandon Mitchell (Little Rock, Ark./North Pulaski) was named second team all-league on the defensive side of the ball.
Addison had a breakout season with 2,950 yards of total offense and a school record 22 touchdown passes. The junior set nine different school records this season. Hayden played a key role on the offensive line, helping Taylor to average over 30 points a game. Mitchell led Taylor in tackles (77) and interceptions (3).
Six different Trojans were also recognized as MSFA Mideast League Honorable Mention picks: Trenton Schmale (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), WR; Trevor Terrell (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead), WR; Marc Cattrell (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South), OL; Nahum Masimer (Johnstown, Ohio/Northridge), DL; Nathan Boland (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), DL; Marcellus Burton (Benton Harbor, Mich./Benton Harbor), DB.
Taylor ended its season ranked No. 19 in the final NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll after finishing with the program's best record (7-3) since 1999.
