Larkin Receives CoSIDA Academic Honor

Molly Larkin, a senior on the Taylor University volleyball team, has earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Third Team.
The defensive specialist maintains a 3.92 GPA as a triple major in history, political science, and Spanish. Larkin has previously been honored for her work in the classroom as a NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 2008-09 Mid-Central College Conference Academic All-Conference Team.
Larkin was also the 2008-09 MCC nominee for the NAIA's A.O. Duer Award, which honors character, playing ability, and scholarship.
The Excelsior, Minn., native performs extensive volunteer work, including nursing home ministry and the tutoring of local youth.
A captain on Taylor's 2009 conference championship volleyball team, Larkin and her teammates have compiled a record of 126-37 during her four years, including three straight MCC championships.
Larkin has played in 35 matches this season with 108 digs and a .949 serve receive percentage. She needs just 18 more digs to reach 800 for her career.
The College Division of District 5 is comprised of NCAA Div. II and III, NAIA, and two-year colleges from Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana. The sports information directors from each university vote on the team.
Taylor (31-5) enters postseason play as the top seed in the MCC Tournament. The Trojans face Grace on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m.
