Guion Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Taylor University women's soccer forward Allison Guion has earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 5 Third Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday.

Allison GuionGuion, a senior captain for the Trojans, carries a 3.91 GPA as a social work major. The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native has previously been honored for her work in the classroom as a 2008 NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the 2008-09 Mid-Central College Conference Academic All-Conference Team.

Through 17 games this season, Guion leads Taylor in assists (4) and shots on goal (20). Her four goals rank second on the team. As a junior, Guion scored a team-high 12 goals and led the Trojans to an 11-7 overall record.

The College Division of District 5 is comprised of NCAA Div. II and III, NAIA, and two-year colleges from Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Indiana. The sports information directors from each university vote on the team. Guion was the only NAIA member on any of the three District 5 teams.

Taylor (7-9-1) enters MCC Tournament play this Saturday as the sixth-seed and travels to Spring Arbor to take on the third-seeded Cougars (11-5-2) at 2 p.m.
