Trojans Prepare for MCC Tournament
10.28.2009
The Taylor men's soccer team opens first round action of the Mid-Central College Conference tournament this Saturday when they travel to Grace College for a 3 p.m. start.
The two teams tied for fourth place in the league standings with identical 4-4 records, but the Lancers won the tiebreaker with a 2-1 win in the only head-to-head meeting of the season.
The Oct. 2 match was Taylor's regular season finale and dropped it to 7-10 on the season. The difference in the outcome was a missed penalty kick by the Trojans late in the first half while trailing 1-0.
Ian Perrotte later knotted the score at 1-1 on Taylor's second penalty attempt of the afternoon, but Grace's Greg Fulton scored the go-ahead-to-stay-ahead goal in the 84th minute.
Should the Trojans prevail they will take on the winner of Marian and top-seeded No. 9 Bethel on Saturday, Nov. 7.
