10.13.2009

The Lady Trojan soccer program has announced the signing of Stephanie Kerstan for the 2009-2010 school year. Kerstan, a native of Mundelein, Illinois will play on the defensive side of the ball.

stephKerstan, who plays year round for the Sockers FC and for the Chicago Fire Juniors, has been involved in the Illinois Olympic Development Selection and is a regional ODP champion.

Carrying a 4.0 GPA, she is a member of the National Honor Society, earned Honor Role every semester, and served as a peer tutor for mathematics.

Head coach Scott Stan was very pleased with Kerstan's decision to attend Taylor, "We are so fortunate to sign one of the best defenders in the Chicago area.  Look for Stephanie to make an immediate impact in our program her freshman year."

Kerstan revealed the basis of her decision, "At the beginning of my college search, I decided I wanted to attend a Christian university with rigorous academics. When I visited Taylor, I was very impressed by the passion for glorifying God that every student seemed to have. This Christ-centered community is exactly what I had been looking for.

After meeting Coach Stan and spending time with the players on the team, I had a deep sense that the focus of Taylor athletics would be to show the love of Christ through this sport and to honor Him both on and off the field.  I believe that TU is the place that will help me to grow in Christ and to impact others for Him as He leads me, and I can't wait to begin my time at Taylor."
