Hegelein Named MCC Runner of the Week

Taylor University cross country runner Kristen Hegelein has been selected as the Mid-Central College Conference Runner of the Week for her performance at last week's Bethel Invitational.

Hegelein, a sophomore from Rochester, Mich., covered the 5,000-meter distance in 19:43 to help lead the Lady Trojans to a third place finish. It was the first time she had broken the 20-minute barrier and an improvement of 40 seconds over last week's effort.

Taylor is idle this weekend, but will travel to Grand Rapids, Mich., for the Great Lakes Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 24.
