Volleyball Trio Recognized by MCC

For the second straight week, three Taylor University volleyball players were recognized by the Mid-Central College Conference as the top players in the MCC at their respective positions for the week ending Sept. 12.

Taylor finished with a 4-1 record last week, including a 3-1 win over Marian University in the MCC opener for both teams. The 19th-ranked Trojans went on to finish third at the Graceland (Iowa) University Invitational to improve their record to 9-2 this season.

Sophomore Kelsey Pritchard (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg) was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Graceland Invitational after matching a career high with 25 kills in a 3-2 win over Jamestown (N.D.). Currently ranked 9th in the nation in kills per set, Pritchard posted a double-double of 22 kills and 10 digs against Marian earlier in the week to lead the Trojans to victory in their conference opener.

Sophomore Betsy Brown (Adrian, Mich./Lenawee Christian) dished out a career-high 61 assists in Taylor's win over Jamestown (N.D.) The sophomore posted her second double-double of the week in that same match. She is currently ranked 10th in the nation with 10.6 assists per set.

Freshman Courtney Herschberger (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) received All-Tournament honors at the Graceland Invitational after recording 80 digs in the tournament's four matches. That included a career-high 23 digs in the Trojans' match against Graceland.

Taylor will travel to Fort Wayne to take on the University of Saint Francis Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
