Women's Soccer Pair Honored by MCC

Following a 1-0 overtime victory Saturday over Illinois Tech for the Taylor women's soccer team, two Trojans have been honored as the Mid-Central College Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Shawna Lane (Minnetonka, Minn./Hopkins), a team captain and senior goalkeeper for the Trojans, was named the MCC Defensive Player of the Week after recording her first shutout of the season in the win over Illinois Tech. An all-conference pick at goalkeeper last season, Lane tallied nine shutouts in 2008.

Cara Andjelich (Crown Point, Ind./Boone Grove) was honored as the MCC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring her first career goal in the ninth minute of overtime to give Taylor their first win of the season.

Taylor (1-2) is back in action on Friday, Sept. 11 when they play host to Asbury College at 4 p.m. Asbury is currently receiving votes in the NAIA national polls.
