Volleyball Sweeps Weekly MCC Awards

After defeating NCAA Div. II Saint Joseph's 3-0 last Tuesday to improve their record to 5-1, three players from the No. 19 Taylor volleyball team made a clean sweep of the weekly Mid-Central College Conference awards, receiving Player, Setter, and Libero of the week honors.

Sophomore Kelsey Pritchard (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg) posted a season-high 18 kills for a .300 hitting percentage against the Pumas to earn MCC Player of the Week. The outside hitter, who also posted six digs and two blocks in the match, currently ranks 12th in the nation with 4.5 kills per set. This is the first MCC Player of the Week Honor of Pritchard's career.

Sophomore Betsy Brown (Adrian, Mich./Lenawee Christian) claimed the seventh MCC Setter of the Week award of her career by putting up 37 assists and 14 kills against Saint Joseph's. Ranked eighth in the nation with 11 assists per set, Brown also added two kills, one block, and one service ace against the Pumas.

To round out the honors for the Trojans, freshman Courtney Herschberger (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield) received MCC Libero of the Week Honors. Against Saint Joseph's, Herschberger led Taylor with 17 digs, and was perfect in 16 total pass attempts.

The Taylor volleyball team will be back in action Wednesday when they travel to take on Marian University in the team's MCC opener at 7 p.m.
