The Taylor University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Ruth Ozmun as assistant women's cross country coach.
Ozmun earned a B.S. degree in physical education from Taylor in 1979 and coached both track and field and volleyball at Taylor from 1981-84.
An accomplished distance runner after her years at Taylor, Ozmun qualified for and competed in the US Women's Olympic Marathon Trials in 1984, 1988, and 1992. She is a member of the Taylor Athletic Hall of Fame and was named Indiana's Female Road Runner of the Year in 1984.
Head coach Cindy Callison expressed her excitement in having Ozmun join her staff. "We are looking forward to having someone with such a high caliber of running experiences and expertise. The new perspectives and ideas that she will bring to the program should be very beneficial, and we are delighted to have her back in the Taylor community."
Ozmun and her husband John, also a Taylor alumnus, have four sons, Chet, Gus, John, and Ray.
